How long have you been eating intuitively? I've been trying to do so for about a week or two and it is a struggle, but I am trying hard!

lol, yeah I found myself eating a bunch of jelly beans/robins eggs lol. I still plan out what I am going to eat (all but dinner) - but now I am not rigid in WHEN I eat. If I'm not hungry for a snack, I don't eat it. But if I am starving then I eat something even if it wasn't planned.

yeah, leila, that's the perfect way to do it. if you don't feel like eating, you don't, but if you're starving, go ahead and eat!
but if you were planning on eating something and then want something else, what do you do?

then I just go into my self diet club account and change it. I am still too scared to not count since I am still trying to lose. But once I am maintaining I am not going to count (well try not to at least!)

Counting just makes me think too much about food I just have what I like and if you listen to your body you will know when you've had enough. I'm just trying to maintain or loose a few lbs but focusing on eating healthier.

I admire you for that, right now I am focusing on not weighing myself...one challenge at a time!

Leila - THANK YOU for the invitation to this message board! Hi everybody I'm Carolyn. I'm 5'2''. Leila and others helped me 'reach my goal' last year on Self.com Now I'm back into the stress eating. My last weigh in was about 108.5 but my comfy weitht is 101.5. My goal? To stop "stress eating" AND/OR to replace chocolate BARS with RICE CAKES So far? Last 3 to 4 days have been good!

hi carolyn i'm glad you said that your goal is to stop stress eating rather than to lose weight...that's really important because you aren't anywhere near the point where you need to lose. welcome!

Hey Carolyn! I'm glad you came over to join us. Why don't you join me in my challenge to not weigh yourself for a month? it will probably help with the stress if you aren't looking at the scale all the time.

Hey - I love the no scale idea!
Leila - What happened to your "no candy" challenge?
Intuitive eating - does that mean trying to feel what your body is telling you at that time and "listen" to your body's signals?

I'm back on the no candy challenge! I started last week on Thursday - I was eating way too much easter candy/leftover valentines candy. SO I cut it out and it is going GREAT! I don't even crave it anymore. And I'm not so sluggish in the afternoon from the drop after the sugar spike.
Check out intuitiveeating.com - there is a book too. Basically you learn to listen to your hunger signals, no food is off limits and you eat whatever you want. Katherine McPhee used it to get over bulimia. I do it on the weekends, but week days are tough since I have to bring all my food to work with me.
