eee, i am totally going to start running... i need to start out slow because i get so bored and i could bike for hours but running 5 minutes will be hard...
so how do i start out? anyone have ideas?
i read somewhere to start out doing 4 min walking, 1 min running and then bump up the running each week until they are equal, and then decreasing the walking... sounds kinda weak, but who knows... ideas?

That's a great idea. My good friend has started that way. If you can go longer than a min, then do 2 mins and then break. You'll build up your endurance pretty quickly. It's much better to start slow than try too hard off the bat and not be able to keep it up for any length of time. Just listen to music and the time will pass quickly and you'll get a great interval workout in.

katie - self has a walk to run program on their reach your goal section - it is pretty much walk 5, run3, walk 2, run 3 for like a half hour & then each week you bump it up. It is pretty easy to follow & will probably help out. That is pretty much what I have been trying. Today I walked at a pretty quick clip to warm up for 5 min, then alternated running 4 with walking 2 for 30 minutes & then cooled down with a 5 min quick walk.

yeah i was injured for liek 2ish weeks and i couldnt run!! it was because i was dumb, and after not running so much onland in a while, i decided to go on an 8.5 mile run, and didnt stretch properly afterwards and ended up pulling my groin. plus my shoes are wearing in, and my mechanics are gettin messed up cause im soo used to limping from my groin. so i need to start slow again and work my way up! but the running high is AMAZING. after i am done with a run, expecially a fast one, i feel ON TOP OF THE WORLD. usually ,i will have to be running with osmene else because they are the only ways i will stay strong and fast through the whole thing. i was proud when i was able to run 4 miles with my friend in 35 minutes lol. not BAD. but nice and consistent.
katie- omg the bike bores me soo much! unless i am actually bike riding on a trail or something. when i am at the gym and using that machine i HATE it. but i challenge myself SOO hard on that thing. i put it at Alpine Pass at level 20 for like 45 minutes. omg. killer workout.

My Stats: I'm 5' 6 and hovering right now around 125 lbs...for me i like the range to be around 123 - 126. I just feel better that way. I go to the gym about 3 x a week. Ummm what else? haha My goals are just to stay within my comfortable range....(maybe get down to 124) and also to 'eat like normal'. I want to try and eat more 'real' meals ( not just my safe foods) and not obsess about calories!

Great goals Lynn, just don't focus on the number - because that will automatically make you focus & obsess on calories.
